Simba & Maddy
1) How did you meet and fall in love?
Madeline and I met at the Vegan Food Fair in Auckland in 2017. I was working at one of the stalls when she noticed me. She obviously saw something in me that made her muster up the courage to come up and talk to me.
We talked, I got her number and we went our separate ways. I knew immediately that she was different and messaged her as soon as she left. She had left that much of an impression on me.
We texted for a few days and soon realized how much in common we had with each other. I loved how honest, caring and intelligent she was. She is the kindest soul I know. It didn’t take long for me to fall head over heels.
2) Tell us about your proposal?
The proposal I had planned didn’t end up happening due to the last level 3 lockdown. So instead I had organized some of her closest friends and family to come see a show I was doing at the ASB Waterfront theatre.
After the show, I got Maddy to come to my dressing room which I’d filled with LED tea lights, lanterns, and flowers.
I had memorized a few things that I wanted to say and then immediately forgot all of it when we got into the room. (So much for being a seasoned and professional actor) I still had fun with it though. Got on one knee and asked the love of my life if she would marry me. It was perfect!
2) Tell us about your Nolan and Vada engagement ring and why you chose it?
The original ring I chose was a brilliant blue sapphire set in a dummy ring for the proposal. We then made another appointment with Nolan and Vada to go in and talk about finishing off the ring with a gold band and accompanying diamonds.
While at the appointment Madeline saw a ring that she fell in love with and we came to a decision to go with that one. A Teal Sapphire with a Flora cluster on an 18k yellow gold band. It’s gorgeous!
